It was the inaugural Explorer II and was specifically made for those who work in low-light conditions – hence its bright orange hand and luminous markings. If you’re looking to start a vintage Rolex collection, this should be one of them. Not only is it one of the Explorers with the longest production period, it also has the original Rolex Explorer’s DNA – the matte dial, superbly proportioned 36mm case, and the characteristic 6 and 9 numerals.
