NBA's Luka Doncic Loves Gold Watches

At just 23 years old, Slovenian NBA Star Luka Doncic has already broken records. The Dallas Mavericks point guard has produced one of the best starts to a career in league history, earning back-to-back All-NBA First Team Honors and setting record triple-doubles.

One of Luka’s favorite timepieces is the Rolex Submariner Date ref. 126618 in solid yellow gold. This watch hails from the newest collection of Submariner timepieces, made modern with a larger 41mm case and a new automatic Caliber 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve.

Rolex Daytona

Luka also owns a solid 18k yellow gold Rolex Daytona, which is known as the modern “Paul Newman” (ref. 116508). Introduced in the 2000s, this watch evokes the signature style of Paul Newman Daytonas of the past while adding the heft and substance of the modern Daytona.

Its key features include a 3-colored dial in black, gold, and red and an Art Deco-style font in the sub-dials. The engraved tachymeter bezel and applied luminous markers provide an interesting flair to the enduring design. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

While the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak made history as the first steel luxury sports watch, it has been made in various precious metals. Luka prefers the 39mm yellow gold version, also known as the Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ Extra-Thin (ref. 15202).

This watch was first introduced in 2000 but AP modified it in 2012 to commemorate the collection’s 40th anniversary and to make it look more like the original Jumbo reference. Its gold dial with a petite Tapisserie waffle pattern and applied luminous indices pairs well with just about anything, while the AP logo above 6 lends interest. Hublot Big Bang Evolution

Luka also made space for an avant-garde watch among his classic timepieces – the Hublot Big Bang Evolution, launched as a follow-up to the brand’s most famous offering, the Big Bang. His choice model features a rose gold construction, paired with a structured black rubber strap.

Moreover, the watch boasts eccentric details that complement the precious metal: a black carbon fiber bezel with six screws and a black carbon fiber dial with a distinct woven effect.
