The BENRUS TYPE 1 MIL SPEC is a remarkable timepiece rooted in military heritage and precision engineering. Originally developed after BENRUS secured the first Vietnam War U.S. military watch contract, it was purpose-built to meet the demanding needs of elite operatives. During the early stages of the Vietnam War, specialized units such as the U.S. Navy SEALs, EOD teams, Army Rangers, Green Berets, and CIA operatives required a more robust and reliable dive watch. In response, the Department of Defense established strict standards for a timepiece capable of withstanding extreme conditions while maintaining flawless functionality—standards the TYPE 1 was designed to exceed.
This Swiss-made watch features a full sandblasted 316L stainless steel case with a screw-down crown, measuring 39.5mm in diameter and 14.4mm in height. A double-domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating ensures exceptional legibility in any light. The dial is enhanced with BW G9 Super-LumiNova on its markers and hands, while the bi-directional sandblasted bezel with an aluminum inner ring provides reliable timing functionality.
Powered by the Swiss ETA 2892 movement, the TYPE 1 offers a 42-hour power reserve, 36.5 ATM water resistance (equivalent to 1,200 feet), and comes fitted with a durable black rubber strap and pin buckle. The closed, sandblasted case back proudly displays its MIL SPEC engraving, a testament to its rugged origins. Designed and engineered in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the BENRUS TYPE 1 continues to embody the brand’s legacy of manufacturing dependable, high-performance watches built to endure any environment.
