Breva Genève makes its return in 2025 under the leadership of Julien Haenny. Known for its earlier bold complications like barometers and altimeters, the revived Breva shifts its focus towards a more classical interpretation of mechanical artistry. The first model of this new chapter, the Segreto di Lario, introduces an elegant cushion-shaped 41mm case in 18k pink gold, offering refined proportions at just 11mm thick.
The Segreto di Lario presents a distinctive dial layout with central hours and minutes, a retrograde seconds display at 12 o’clock, and an innovative double retrograde power reserve indicator at the lower half of the dial. This new complication divides the 7-day power reserve into two sections: six days tracked by the first hand and the final 24 hours by a second hand. This structure not only offers a visually dynamic element but also promotes better awareness of the critical last stretch of available energy, reinforcing optimal winding habits for mechanical performance. Movement development was entrusted to Chronode, continuing a collaboration that dates back to the original Genie series, and the twin-barrel calibre inside the Segreto di Lario features fine finishing, visible through an exhibition caseback.
Limited to 25 pieces, the Segreto di Lario signals Breva’s return to the independent watchmaking scene with a blend of familiar creativity and new classicism. Paired with a hand-stitched alligator leather strap with a traditional pin buckle, the watch embodies both continuity and evolution. Its 3Hz movement, seven-day power reserve, and Geneva-striped bridges with a wind rose engraving demonstrate Breva’s renewed commitment to fine watchmaking while hinting at future collections that may revisit the brand’s more unconventional roots.
