Emmanuel Bouchet marks the tenth anniversary of Complication One with a refreshed line unveiled at Geneva Watch Days 2025. The collection arrives in gold, titanium, and, stealing the spotlight, a sapphire-cased Fusion model limited to five pieces. Shaping and hand-polishing a 44 mm sapphire case to match the fluid lines of the metal versions is no small feat, demanding hundreds of hours at the bench.
When Complication One first appeared in 2014, it immediately stood apart. Bouchet’s slow-beating transmission escapement, ticking only once every 15 seconds, set the tone for a watch built to change how we read, and feel time. That deliberate rhythm powers the display’s choreography: jumping hours, minutes, decimal minutes, and a crisp day-night indicator. The decimal system is surprisingly intuitive; if the ten-minute hand sits on five and the minute hand on nine, you’re at 59 minutes. Everything is arranged in five layers of time, from day/night down to the oversized seconds display at 12.
At the heart is Bouchet’s fully integrated Swiss-made calibre EB63, its twin barrels supplying 55 hours of energy to drive the jumping indications. Subdials vary by model, sapphire for Aleph, titanium for Contrast, and a mix in the Fusion. As ever, Bouchet uses mechanical precision to deliver something rarer: a watch that invites you to slow down.
