Frederique Constant has introduced a new version of its Manufacture Tourbillon, now featuring a mother-of-pearl dial for the first time. Set in a 39mm 18-carat white gold case, the dial brings a soft interplay of grey and blue tones that complement the polished indexes, blued screws, and the shimmering finish of the tourbillon. The tourbillon itself, part of the FC-980 calibre introduced in 2008, is visible through both the front and back, and performs one full rotation every 60 seconds. Only 36 individually numbered pieces have been made.
The use of natural mother-of-pearl gives each watch a unique personality, reflecting light in unpredictable ways and adding emotional depth to the dial. Frederique Constant positions this model for watch lovers who appreciate both technical mastery and visual nuance. Each dial is different, owing to the organic texture of the material. These subtle variations, paired with the hand-assembled movement and decoration, ensure no two watches are exactly alike.
The FC-980 movement inside has been refined over more than 15 years and was updated again in 2023. It features a silicon escapement for increased durability and resistance to magnetic fields. The dial remains minimal, marked only with the Frederique Constant name, its Geneva origin, and “Swiss Made.” This simplicity allows the materials to speak for themselves, highlighted by a pale blue alligator strap and the mirror-finished white gold case.
