Jaeger-LeCoultre, renowned for its pursuit of precise timekeeping, combines its expertise in tourbillons and the Duometre mechanism to introduce the groundbreaking Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual. The new Calibre 388 features a tourbillon that rotates on three axes, creating a mesmerizing ‘spinning top’ effect alongside a perpetual calendar with a grande date indication.

The Duometre concept, introduced in 2007, revolutionized watchmaking by enabling the addition of complications without compromising accuracy. With two barrels and gear trains, this mechanism separates the power supply, one for timekeeping and one for complications.

The Heliotourbillon, a novel tourbillon configuration, rotates on three axes, enhancing accuracy in all wrist positions. The tourbillon consists of three titanium cages, spinning at varying speeds, weighing less than 0.7 grams.

Incorporating a perpetual calendar, Calibre 388 allows both forward and backward adjustment of hours and minutes without compromising precision. The movement also features a Grande Date display and a moon-phase indication accurate to 122 years.

The Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual’s rose gold case design draws inspiration from 19th-century savonette pocket watches with rounded contours and a convex crystal. The 44mm case comprises 34 parts, meticulously hand finished. The dial layout showcases symmetry, with a triangular arrangement emphasizing the mechanism’s barrels and gear trains. A sapphire crystal window offers a view of the tourbillon’s rotation.
