First unveiled in 2023, the Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 was Jaeger-LeCoultre at its most poetic. A watch that turned the brand’s signature Gyrotourbillon into a piece of kinetic sculpture. For 2025, the Maison gives this modern classic a new look: glossy black hand-lacquered dials on both sides set against warm pink gold. It’s dramatic, elegant, and limited to just ten pieces.
The Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 is powered by the Calibre 179, a showcase of mechanical bravado. The fourth-generation Gyrotourbillon spins on multiple axes- its titanium cage completing a rotation every 16 seconds while the outer carriage turns once per minute -creating a hypnotic sense of weightlessness. As ever, the Reverso’s Duoface complication offers two time zones, making the double-sided design as functional as it is beautiful.
The new colour palette leans heavily into Art Deco heritage, pairing deep lacquer with finely laser-engraved gold ribs and hand-polished surfaces that catch the light just so. Flip it over, and the reverse dial reveals an openworked landscape of black lacquer and micro-blasted metal. Despite its 382 components, the watch stays sleek at 13.63mm thick, a reminder that Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mastery lies not just in complication, but in making the complex look effortlessly refined.
