The HM8 Mark 2 is MB&F’s latest tribute to the automotive world, and it’s hard to miss. First launched in 2023 with white and green editions, it returned in blue, and now a vivid purple version joins the line-up for 2025. That purple isn’t just eye-catching for the sake of it; it’s made using metallic pigments found in luxury car paints, mixed into resin with exacting precision. The result is a glossy, almost electric finish that feels straight out of a concept car garage.
This series is rooted in the childhood dream of MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser. From the age of four, he was set on becoming a car designer. Even when his classmates moved on to other interests, his loyalty to sleek curves and aerodynamic forms never wavered. A shot at studying car design fell through due to cost, and he pivoted to engineering. That might have been the end of it—until years later, watchmaking became the unexpected path to bring his dream back to life.
The HM8 Mark 2 reflects that passion in every detail. It features a titanium chassis wrapped in CarbonMacrolon® panels—a composite that’s tough, light, and highly customizable. The vertical time display uses a sapphire prism to reflect jumping hours and sweeping minutes, styled like a vintage speedometer. Inside, a 22-carat gold battle-axe rotor powers the movement, with one blade just 0.2mm thick—so delicate it had to be stamped, not machined. And then there’s the double bubble sapphire crystal, incredibly hard to produce and even harder to replace. This isn’t just a watch, it’s what happens when a childhood obsession with cars finds its way into Haute Horlogerie.
