History of Pequignet
Situated in the heart of the French Jura, in Morteau, PEQUIGNET stands as the sole French Haute Horlogerie manufacture. Established in 1973 by Emile Péquignet, this watchmaking House is renowned for crafting timepieces that defy traditional standards and norms. All PEQUIGNET watches are thoughtfully designed and produced within its French workshops, marking it as one of the rare independent watchmaking entities.
Transforming into a manufacture in 2010, PEQUIGNET is helmed by a team of exceptionally skilled watchmaking engineers. The Manufacture is outfitted with cutting-edge technology to develop extraordinary calibres that power its innovative and sophisticated timepieces.
A significant milestone was achieved in 2011 when PEQUIGNET introduced its proprietary movement, the Calibre Royal®, the only French Haute-Horlogerie movement, meticulously designed and assembled by Manufacture PEQUIGNET. This was followed by the manual version of Calibre Royal® in 2018 and then the Calibre Initial® in 2021.
In 2017, a pivotal change occurred when PEQUIGNET was acquired by four of its employees, who are staunch supporters of local production and unwavering quality. 2021 marked a celebratory moment for PEQUIGNET as it received financial backing from the ethical and family-oriented investment fund ENOWE, led by Hugues Souparis. This was also the year the Manufacture commemorated its 50th anniversary, honoring half a century of innovation and watchmaking prowess in France.
As of 2023, PEQUIGNET has returned to prominence by participating in the esteemed Watches Wonders event in Geneva, revealing a new visual identity. Concurrently, the Manufacture inaugurated its first flagship store in Paris, nestled in the exclusive Saint-Germain-des-Prés district.
