Ressence has teamed up with German artist Daniel Engelberg to create two limited-edition watches, the TYPE 8 DE1 and DE2, limited to 40. These models combine Ressence’s minimalist design with Engelberg’s bold, geometric style drawn from his “Inside Out” series. The DE1 comes in bright pink, while the DE2 features a striking turquoise. Both dials use Ressence’s Orbital Convex System, allowing the displays to orbit in motion, giving the impression of moving artwork. For Engelberg, seeing his design animated on a wristwatch brings a new dimension to his work, art that changes with every passing moment.
This release follows Ressence’s ongoing exploration of watches as wearable art, a philosophy that has inspired past collaborations with artists like Shantell Martin, Stefan Sagmeister, and Alain Silberstein. Founder Benoît Mintiens describes the Engelberg edition as a blend of two creative worlds: the dial and the artwork speak the same visual language. With matching rubber straps, pink for DE1, turquoise for DE2, and an additional leather strap for dressier occasions, the pieces balance fun and refinement.
Daniel Engelberg is known for his sculptural approach to painting. Based in Munich, he creates layered, circular works by milling wood, applying bright acrylics, and sealing them in epoxy. His style mixes structural clarity with warm colour. The watch collaboration brings his work into daily life, transforming a timepiece into a living canvas of colour, movement, and depth.
