Ressence has teamed up with menswear specialist The Armoury to produce a limited-edition take on the Type 9, the brand’s most compact and wearable watch. The Armoury, with stores in Hong Kong and New York, is known for its thoughtful blend of British, Italian, and Japanese tailoring traditions, an influence that carries through in the design of this new piece.
The Type 9 ARM measures 39mm across and weighs just 39 grams in Grade 5 titanium. It features a warm salmon dial with a sandblasted finish, a fluted polished bezel that doubles as a minute track, and a chocolate suede strap with visible stitching. These details nod to the textures and tones of fine clothing, while the display and orbital mechanics remain distinctly Ressence.
For founder Benoît Mintiens, the collaboration pushed Ressence into more classical territory, smaller proportions, traditional decoration, and restrained colors, without losing its identity. Mark Cho of The Armoury describes it as a watch designed to live easily with a suit: understated, comfortable, and elegant. Only 20 examples will be made, available exclusively through The Armoury’s boutiques and website.
