Ahmed Seddiqi, the UAE’s leading name in luxury watches and jewellery, has teamed up with Ressence to mark its 75th anniversary with a special edition of the TYPE 9. Limited to just 20 pieces, the TYPE 9 S75 features a dial made with real sand collected equally from all seven Emirates. The result is a mechanical watch that quietly captures the essence of the UAE’s desert landscape, while staying true to Ressence’s clean, modern design. The strap, made from genuine camel leather, adds another nod to local heritage in a watch that blends culture, craftsmanship, and innovation.
This collaboration goes beyond design. Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, CEO of Ahmed Seddiqi, and Benoît Mintiens, founder of Ressence, collected the sand themselves during a desert trip — a symbolic gesture that reflects the spirit of their partnership. Mintiens describes the watch as a modern interpretation of the hourglass, with its domed dial echoing the soft curves of sand dunes. With a case that weighs only 40 grams, the TYPE 9 S75 brings together nature, tradition, and contemporary watchmaking in a compact and elegant form.
While visually simple, the TYPE 9 S75 is full of refined details. It shows only hours and minutes using Ressence’s signature ROCS system, with a titanium bezel that serves as the minute indicator. The smooth lugs and slim strap make it comfortable to wear, and the design stays focused on function. Like all Ressence watches, it’s made in Switzerland and built to be worn, not just admired.
